UPSIDE Prize nominations due by Dec. 3

Nominations are open through Dec. 3 for the 2021 University Prize for Strategic, Inclusive and Diverse Excellence (UPSIDE).

The award, which includes a $10,000 prize, recognizes a school, division, department or office making a significant contribution to fostering equity, diversity and inclusion and seeking to increase access to and full participation in all aspects of the University by traditionally underrepresented groups.

Factors for consideration include:

  • A consistent record of commitment and success in equity, diversity and inclusion efforts and related initiatives that impact the University community. There will be greater consideration given to those nominations that include multiple years of documented achievements for the reviewing committee to consider.

  • Innovative approaches to fostering equity, diversity, and inclusion within the University community in areas such as campus climate, recruitment/retention, professional development, academic success, and other programming and business activities or enterprises.

  • Creative and inspiring plans for future initiatives, particularly plans developed with cross-unit partners, and which illustrate innovative approaches.

Units previously nominated but not selected are eligible to seek nomination again. Self-nominations are permitted. Nominations must be submitted on or before Dec. 3 via the 2021 UPSIDE award nomination form.

Questions should be sent to diversity@pitt.edu.
