Amanda Brodish has been promoted to assistant provost for institutional research and analytics. In this capacity, she will serve on the Office of the Provost cabinet and as a member of the Academic Leadership Team.
Provost Joe McCarthy, in making the announcement, said Brodish has been “instrumental in advancing data-informed decision-making across the University, overseeing both the Office of Institutional Research and the Data Analytics Team. Through her leadership, Pitt has made tremendous strides in the use of predictive and descriptive analytics to improve operational efficiency and student outcomes.”
Brodish also played a key role in the implementation of Pathways, the student success and advising platform, which provides advisors with real-time, data-driven insights to better support students.
Brodish came to Pitt in 2011 as a data analyst in the provost’s office. She later co-founded the Data Analytics Team. In 2021, she was named associate vice provost for data analytics, assuming additional responsibility for the Office of Institutional Research.
With a PhD in social psychology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, her research has examined the cognitive and health impacts of stereotypes and discrimination. Before joining Pitt, she completed postdoctoral work at the University of Michigan, focusing on the effects of racial discrimination on health and well-being.
