Brian Dubenion, who most recently served as associate vice president for student success & dean of students at Lincoln University, has been appointed as Pitt’s inaugural associate dean of student culture and community
Dubenion, who starts in mid-August, will oversee student culture development aligned with institutional values, focusing on accountability, behavior management and community standards. He will lead student conduct processes, manage complex behavioral concerns and coordinate University-wide student support responses.
Reporting to Dean of Students Marlin Nabors, Dubenion will develop guidelines, procedures and educational initiatives promoting community well-being and restorative practices. He also will chair the behavioral intervention team, represent Student Affairs on the threat assessment team, and supervise the Fraternity and Sorority Life, Office of Inclusion and Belonging, PittServes, and Student Conduct departments.
Before working at Lincoln, Dubenion held leadership positions at Buffalo State University and Ithaca College, where he developed award-winning programs in student success, residence life and cultural engagement.
He was a first-generation college student, born and raised in Buffalo, and holds a master of science in student personnel administration and a bachelor of arts in psychology, both from Buffalo State University.
