Joseph “Jay” Hornack, an adjunct professor at Pitt's School of Law, received the Dorsey/O'Brien Award for community impact from the Steel Valley Authority. The award recognizes individuals with more than 40 years of dedicated community service.
The Steel Valley Authority is a Pittsburgh-area economic development organization founded in 1985 in response to deindustrialization in the region. Hornack, an employment law attorney who has been at Pitt for more than 22 years, directs the Human Resources Law Online Graduate Certificate Program and teaches disability discrimination law.
Hornack also sits on the legal committee for Disability Rights Pennsylvania and previously chaired the Allegheny County Bar Association's Law and Disability Committee.
