ULS to display Dickens first editions

ulsThe University Library System will offer a display of rare first editions of some of the works of Charles Dickens in conjunction with the 200th anniversary of the author’s birth and the 170th anniversary of his visit to Pittsburgh.

The display will run March 28-May 1 in 363 Hillman Library.

An open house will be held 9 a.m.-4 p.m. March 28 featuring the Dickens books as well as those of some of his contemporaries.

The rare volumes in the Dickens display are from Pitt’s Darlington Memorial Library, which includes at least 11,000 books, 3,000 photographs, hundreds of letters and other materials pertaining to the history of southwestern Pennsylvania and colonial America.
