Commencement exercises for the Class of 2013 were held April 28 in the Petersen Events Center.

Pitt alumnus Patrick D. Gallagher, director of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology, delivered the 2013 commencement address April 28 at the Petersen Events Center.
The University conferred upon Gallagher the degree of Doctor of Public Service Honoris Causa. From left are Board of Trustees chair Stephen Tritch, Provost Patricia Beeson, Gallagher and Chancellor Mark Nordenberg.
Mark Burdsall, staff member in organizational development in the Office of Human Resources, served as a marshal during commencement.
Pitt conferred approximately 6,000 undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees this year at its five campuses; the Bradford, Greensburg, Johnstown and Titusville campuses held their own ceremonies.
