African-American student retention

Af-Am retention

Marc Lamont Hill, associate professor of English education at Columbia University, was the keynote speaker at the Sept. 11 symposium on African-American student retention.

Hill spoke on “Leading, Loving and Learning From Black College Students.”

The symposium was coordinated by the Academic Resource Center in the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences, with support from the Provost’s Development Fund.

Presenting at the symposium were School of Education faculty members Linda DeAngelo, Gina Garcia and Kathryn Bethea, all from the Department of Administrative and Policy Studies, and Armando Garcia of the Dietrich school’s Department of Hispanic Languages and Literature.
