Campus drug collection set
Do you have a drawer full of expired medications? A medicine cabinet full of pills you don’t take?
Bring them to the University Pharmacy’s annual drug take back day on March 4, noon-7 p.m. in Nordenberg Hall. The event is open to the public as well as to members of the University community.
The proper disposal of unused, expired and unwanted medications is in line with the public safety and sustainability goals of the University: It prevents drug overdoses, illicit use of medications and water pollution.
Items that will be accepted at the Pitt Pharmacy collection include prescription medications, nonleaking liquids, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, supplements, pet medications, creams, gels and ointments.
Items that will not be accepted include needles, syringes, lancets, test strips, inhalers, IV bags, thermometers and chemotherapy medications.
The event is sponsored by Student Affairs, the Pitt Police, the School of Pharmacy and the Allegheny County District Attorney’s office.
