Going up?
Otis Elevator staff will be on hand in the ground-floor and first-floor lobbies next week to assist passengers as the first pair of Cathedral of Learning elevators shift to a destination-based control system. (See Feb. 5 University Times.) The F and J cars will use the new system starting July 27; the six other main elevators will be transitioned pair by pair.
Below, a large new electronic display directs a passenger to ride the J car to floor 21. Smaller touchpads like the one pictured, rightt, will be used on the upper floors. Visually impaired riders can press the accessibility symbol for audio controls.
