Photos: Chancellor’s Staff & Faculty Picnic

Pitt employees, ready for souvenir T-shirts and a meal in the sunshine, were lined up next to the Cathedral of Learning and crowding tables across Bigelow Boulevard by noon on May 3, as the chancellor’s third annual staff and faculty appreciation picnic kicked off.

The yearly event, announced Chancellor Patrick Gallagher, “is just to get together and have fun and really thank each of you for the work you do in making Pitt a great place.”

The afternoon also offered popcorn, ice cream treats, snow cones and cotton candy, as well as the chance to get a caricature or an airbrush tattoo, play cornhole on the William Pitt Union lawn or take a picture with coworkers against a Cathedral backdrop. Raffle prizes included everything from a free month of campus parking to a year’s membership in the University Club, alongside gift baskets, balls signed by the head coaches of the Pitt football and men’s and women’s basketball teams and tickets to home games in each of those sports.

The #PittPicnic photo contest continued this year and employees took to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram share their photos. Adam Causgrove, senior corporate relations associate with the Medical Health Sciences Foundation, won first place this year by posting a photo of last year’s picnic that got the most likes and retweets (143), earning a suite at an upcoming Pitt basketball game.

The College of Business Administration and Staff Association Council, both on Twitter, came in second and third, respectively.
