Nominations Open for Staff Mentor Award

University of Pittsburgh Staff Council (UPSC) is looking for the best mentors at Pitt. Staff members who help their colleagues with networking or professional development, or serve as coaches and allies in the office, can now be recognized by the UPSC Staff Mentor Award.

Nominations are being accepted online until Nov. 5 for staff members who have acted as the most effective role models, advocates and advisors to their colleagues on campus.

The award will sponsor the recipient’s cost to attend six workshops in the Certificate in Organizational Leadership and Ethics (COLE) program, offered by Pitt’s Faculty and Staff Development Program and focused on mentoring, leadership and the challenges of the changing workplace. (An alternative award will be provided if the winner has already completed the COLE program.)

Nominees must be benefits-eligible part- or full-time professional employees at any Pitt campus with a minimum of one year’s continuous employment; those on a performance improvement plan are ineligible. The award winner will be announced at the staff recognition ceremony in December.

Applications Due Nov. 3 for Staff Book Fund Award

The University of Pittsburgh Staff Council is now accepting applications for its annual Endowed Book Fund Award, which provides financial assistance to undergraduate non-freshman students attending Pitt who have a parent or guardian who is a University staff member. This year, five awards of $500 each will be awarded.
