Staff Matters

Next Steps Announced for Staff Engagement and Climate Survey

From November 2017 through January 2018, the University conducted its first Staff Engagement and Climate Survey, sponsored by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and the Office of Human Resources. The goal of the survey was to understand staff’s thoughts within several different categories, including growth and autonomy, collaboration and diverse and inclusive workplace, amongst others. The answers to survey questions will be used to identify ways to enhance the overall environment and experience for all University staff.

Since the closing of the survey on Jan. 12, analysis on the 4,016 survey responses has begun. The engagement survey team is eager to interpret the data and share insights with the University community.

As data analysis continues, additional steps will be taken in the coming months:

  • March through May 2018: Senior leadership will determine areas of focus and will appoint a chair or team to manage communications and action plans.
  • May through June 2018: Action plans will be implemented within each school or department.

More information about results from the engagement survey — as well as what those action plans will entail — will be shared by your responsibility center’s leadership.

As a thank-you to those who completed the survey, respondents were entered into a raffle to win a variety of prizes, including tickets to men’s and women’s basketball games, a one-night stay at the Oakland Residence Inn, Amazon gift cards and a selection of Pitt gear. Raffle winners are listed below. (They were notified by email about their prize winnings.)
