Radio program aimed at senior citizens

Local senior citizens can learn how to improve their health by tuning in to a new radio program featuring health care professionals affiliated with the University’s Center for Healthy Aging.

The 20-minute radio program, “Healthier Tomorrows,” airs on WEDO-AM 810 each Thursday at 2:30 p.m., as part of the “Gary G Variety Show.” Topics include cardiovascular health, depression, safety, socializing, exercise, diabetes control and smoking cessation.

The Center for Healthy Aging was established at Pitt’s Graduate School of Public Health through a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. At the center, seniors can get health tips, community resource connections and information on local health events. The center also is beginning a research project to show how the latest medical knowledge may help older people stay independent. For more information, call 412/664-2822.
