Letters

envelopeTo the editor:

In the midst of our busy lives, we often neglect to take the time to make others feels included and valued. The Dignity and Respect Campaign is hoping to change this mindset. What began as an internal program at UPMC is now a grassroots initiative across the country. The University of Pittsburgh is a partner of the Dignity and Respect Campaign, which strives to promote the message to honor and appreciate the people in our lives, and to take the dignity and respect pledge:

I, ________________, will treat everyone with dignity and respect.

More than 50,000 people have taken the dignity and respect pledge so far. For additional information about the campaign and to download the “30 Tips of Dignity and Respect,” visit dignityandrespect.org.

October has been proclaimed Dignity and Respect Month in Allegheny County and in nine surrounding counties. The campaign is celebrating this designation by encouraging people to take the dignity and respect pledge one of three ways:

1. Online at dignityandrespect.org.

2. On Facebook at the Dignity and Respect Campaign page.

3. By texting RESPECT to 94253.

Please join us by doing your part to ensure that inclusion is at the core of what you do every day and take the pledge!

For more information about how you can help spread the word in your department, send an email to sdm43@pitt.edu or call 412/648-7862.
