COI national conference to be held here

Pitt’s Schools of the Health Sciences and the School of Law are two of the sponsors of a national symposium on conflict of interest issues to be held Oct. 27 and 28 at the University Club.

The American Society of Law, Medicine and Ethics symposium  “Conflicts of Interest in the Practice of Medicine” will bring together national experts who will discuss, debate and propose best practices and approaches to the topic of conflicts of interest, particularly how they apply to the practice of medicine and medical research.

Innovative perspectives on managing conflicts of interest have emerged from an number of disciplines, including medicine, law, economics and other social sciences. The conference intends to foster a cross-disciplinary perspective on pertinent issues and to bring these disparate points of view together to inform and shape policy on this topic.

Continuing education credits will be awarded to qualifying attendees.

The conference agenda and schedule are available at www.aslme.org/Calendar. Online registration is available at www.aslme.org/5th-annual-student-health-conf-20111021-online-registration.
