Names of 3 nursing dean finalists sent to Levine

The names of three finalists for the new dean of Pitt's School of Nursing were submitted by the search committee this week to Arthur S. Levine, senior vice chancellor for Health Sciences.

According to search committee chairperson Patricia D. Kroboth, there are one internal and two external finalists. "We have three extremely talented and well-qualified candidates," said Kroboth, professor and chairperson of the School of Pharmacy's pharmaceutical sciences department. She declined to identify the finalists.

Kroboth said she expected Levine to name the new dean by mid-September and that the dean-designate would be in place by the first of January at the latest. "It would depend of the schedule of the candidate who is chosen when that person would begin," she said.

Lynda Davidson was named interim dean July 1.

The new dean will replace Ellen Rudy, dean since 1991, who stepped down June 30.
