UPB wraps up scholarship drive

Pitt-Bradford has wrapped up its $1 million Agnes L. and Lewis Lyle Thomas Scholarship Challenge, which generated 44 new scholarships and added funds to 53 existing scholarships.

Launched in 2008, the Thomas Scholarship Challenge yielded more than $2.25 million in additional scholarship endowments for Pitt-Bradford students.

The $1 million gift for the challenge came from the estate of Agnes L. Thomas, a Bradford resident for more than 50 years. Pitt-Bradford used $900,000 of the gift for a matching grant scholarship challenge and used the remainder to establish a scholarship in honor of the Thomases.

Earnings from the invested funds allowed the total match to reach more than $1 million.
