Professorship honors former provost
Pitt has established a new professorship honoring former Provost Donald M. Henderson. Larry Davis, dean of the School of Social Work, was named the inaugural Henderson Professor.
Henderson served as provost of the University from 1989 until his retirement in 1993. He also chaired the University-wide planning and budgeting committee and helped establish the University Center for Social and Urban Research and the University Library System. He was named associate provost in 1970 and spent the rest of his career at Pitt.
