Dean named American Pharmaceutical Assn. fellow

Randy P. Juhl, dean of pharmacy, was named a fellow of the American Pharmaceutical Association by the Academy of Pharmaceutical Research and Science Awards Committee.

The honor recognizes an academy member who has demonstrated progressive, exemplary service and achievements in his or her professional area. In 1992, Juhl was appointed first chair of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Nonprescription Drugs Advisory Committee, the advisory body for the movement of drugs from prescription to nonprescription status. He joined Pitt's faculty in 1979 as chair of the department of pharmacy practice. In 1986 he was named dean of the school.
