Day of Caring volunteers tackle 22 projects

DOCVice Chancellor for Governmental Relations Paul A. Supowitz traded his suit and tie for jeans and a T-shirt and dug into garden beds in Oak Hill as part of Pitt’s annual United Way Day of Caring Oct. 19.

More than 200 Pitt volunteers tackled 22 projects at 18 locations as part of the annual United Way Day of Caring. The Oct. 19 event included projects in partnership with community groups in Oakland, Duquesne, East Liberty, Friendship, the Hill District, Hazelwood, Homestead, Lawrenceville, Squirrel Hill and Uptown.

A crew of Pitt volunteers prepared community gardens for winter in partnership with the Oak Hill Residents Council. Tending to the garden beds on Burrows Street were Maurissa Vergari of the School of Pharmacy, Penny Semaia of Athletics and Aileen Brasacchio of the School of Dental Medicine.
