UCSUR seeks applications for Manners awards

The University Center for Social and Urban Research (UCSUR) is seeking applicants for the annual Steven D. Manners Faculty Development Awards. Two awards of up to $10,000 each relating to work in the social, behavioral and policy sciences will be given in honor of Manners, who worked at UCSUR for 26 years and was assistant director at the time of his death in 2000.

One award is a research development grant to support pilot research. Research development grants are expected to have the potential of leading to larger, externally funded projects.

The other award is an infrastructure development award aimed at enhancing faculty capabilities to conduct interdisciplinary research by enabling faculty to develop, acquire and disseminate new research skills. An example is the acquisition of secondary data or new software.

Full-time faculty from all Pitt campuses are eligible. Preference will be given to junior faculty, and to faculty in the Arts and Sciences or Provost-area professional schools and at the regional campuses.

Applications are due April 3. For more information, contact John Hajner at 412/624-5522 or
