SGB honors staff, faculty, administrators

The Student Government Board (SGB) resurrected a Pitt tradition of the 1930s yesterday.

The reinstituted program, called the Faculty Honor Roll, pays tribute to staff and administrators as well as faculty members.

A ceremony recognizing the fall term 1999 honorees was held March 1 in the William Pitt union Ballroom.

The nomination process was open to all Pitt students who wanted to honor an employee of the University. Nominations were screened by an SGB member and members of SGB's academic affairs committee.

SGB is considering opening the nomination process for future awards to other faculty, staff and administrators. Students also are considering publication of a booklet listing honor roll members and why they were selected. Such a booklet was published in the 1930s, when the last Faculty Honor Roll was named.
