Faculty award funded at Katz

A Katz Graduate School of Business alumnus is funding a new faculty development award.

The Woodcock Faculty Development Fund will support an annual award to Katz faculty who demonstrate an ability to develop innovative teaching methods, conduct empirical research that tests new theories and use management know-how to serve the community.

Katz 1966 M.B.A. graduate Kenneth R. Woodcock, senior vice president of AES Corporation, donated $1.5 million to the school to fund the award.

The faculty development award, in the form of cash and development grants, will equal approximately 65 percent of the annual salary of a Katz full-time, tenure-stream faculty member.

Accomplishments, including evidence of outstanding scholarship and/or teaching or service innovation, and a program proposal will serve as criteria for the award. Winners will be selected by a committee of academicians and business leaders. One or two awards are expected to be given annually.

Founded in 1981, AES is the world's largest global power company. Woodcock led domestic business development activities at AES for more than a decade.
