Symposium on high-end outsourcing sparks discussion
C.K. Prahalad, Distinguished Professor of Corporate Strategy at the University of Michigan, urged the academic community to “change the conversation” on offshore outsourcing to one that’s more balanced. Speaking to an overflow crowd April 20 at Alumni Hall, Prahalad said the issue is no longer about whether outsourcing is good or bad. “We just have to make it work because the train has left the station,” he said.
His remarks were part of a symposium on high-end outsourcing that brought together representatives of Indian government, education and media as well as American professors and corporate executives to discuss high-end outsourcing. The event was sponsored by Pitt’s Office of the Provost, the University Center for International Studies, the International Business Center, Katz Graduate School of Business and the School of Engineering.
