University honored for its recycling program
The Allegheny County commissioners have named Pitt one of the county's first "Enviro Star Partners" for voluntarily implementing pollution prevention programs that go above and beyond county regulations. The designation is part of a new County Health Department program designed to promote pollution prevention by publicly recognizing businesses that voluntarily take steps to eliminate or reduce the pollution they generate.
Pitt was honored for its campus-wide recycling program that collects and recycles paper, beverage containers, yard waste, cardboard and scrap paper, and for its pollution education efforts.
