Johnstown gets $150,000 Link-to-Learn award

The Johnstown campus's Office of Community Outreach will receive a $150,000 Link-to-Learn Infrastructure Investment Award from Pennsylvania's Department of Education.

The award will help fund an innovative community partnership involving Pitt-Johnstown, Concurrent Technologies Corp. (CTC) and the Greater Johnstown School District.

"These three major institutional partners will work to leverage the resources of educational institutions, communities, governmental and human service organizations, and area businesses in a way to vastly increase student and citizen access to vital, technologically enhanced information and knowledge," said Jon Darling, Pitt-Johnstown director of Community Outreach.

Working with a wide range of people and organizations in the community, the partnership will establish a community office to be located on the second floor of the Cambria County Central Park Complex in downtown Johnstown. "This office will serve as the community hub of this unique economic and community development project," Darling said.

The award was announced Feb. 18 in Harrisburg and at a press conference in Johnstown.
