Chancellor to be installed at honors convocation

GallagherPatrick Gallagher will be installed as chancellor of the University and will deliver the keynote address at Pitt’s 39th annual honors convocation.

The event, set for 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at Carnegie Music Hall, will recognize Pitt’s student academic award winners and faculty, staff and alumni honorees.

The University’s Board of Trustees elected Gallagher Pitt’s 18th chancellor at its Feb. 8, 2014, meeting. Gallagher assumed the role Aug. 1, 2014, succeeding Mark. A. Nordenberg, who stepped down after 19 years as chancellor.

A graduate of Benedictine College, Gallagher earned his PhD in physics at Pitt in 1991.
