Medical residency program ranked 8th

Pitt’s medical residency program has been ranked 8th in the country by Doximity, the largest professional network for physicians.

More than 50,000 board-certified U.S. physicians evaluated 3,691 residency training programs across 20 specialties.

Massachusetts General Hospital was ranked as the top institution in medical education across multiple specialties. Others in the top 10 were Johns Hopkins and the University of California-San Francisco tied for No. 2; Brigham and Women’s Hospital, No. 4; Mayo Clinic, No. 5; University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, No. 6; Washington University B-JH/SLCH Consortium, No. 7; UPMC/Pitt, No. 8; Stanford, No. 9, and the University of Washington, No. 10.

Pitt was ranked in the top 10 in the following specialties:anesthesiology, No. 10;emergency medicine, No. 7; neurological surgery, tied for No. 9; obstetrics and gynecology, No. 3;orthopaedic surgery, No. 8;otolaryngology, No. 4; pediatrics, tied for No. 8; physical medicine and rehabilitation, No. 7; plastic surgery, No. 3; psychiatry, No. 7, and surgery, No. 10.
