PEOPLE OF THE TIMES

Laura Palmer, assistant director for the nurse anesthesia program, has received the Pennsylvania Association of Nurse Anesthetists 1997 Outstanding Didactic Instructor Award.

She was nominated by students and peers in recognition of her innovative teaching techniques. Drawing from her own clinical experience, she simulates real-life situations for her students by using computerized mannequins with blood flow, breath and heart beat.

Assad Pannah, professor of geology and environmental sciences at the Bradford campus will be inaugurated on April 4 as the president of the Pennsylvania Academy of Science.

Robert R. Korfhage, professor of information science and telecommunications, has won a 1997 Association of American Publishers award for outstanding professional, reference or scholarly textbooks. His work entitled "Information Storage and Retrieval" won in the category for outstanding computer science textbook.
