A big success
Bob Mazzuca (left), executive director of the Boy Scouts' Greater Pittsburgh Council, thanked Chancellor Mark Nordenberg for chairing this spring's Scouting for Food drive, during a June 4 meeting in the William Pitt Union.
The campaign, the largest of its type in the United States, collected 5.2 million units of food weighing 2.1 million lbs. The food represents $3.8 million in direct support to some 100,000 needy people in southwestern Pennsylvania. Pitt was among 425 companies and organizations that participated in the Scouting for Food campaign.
