Peregrine falcon hatches a chick

peregrine chick

Dorothy, the Cathedral of Learning’s resident peregrine falcon, marked Mother’s Day with the hatching of her first chick of 2015. As the University Times went to press, this was the only one of the four eggs to hatch.

Dorothy began nesting at the top of the Cathedral of Learning in 2002 with her first mate, Erie. In fall 2007, Erie disappeared and E2 took his place. Dorothy fledged 22 chicks with Erie and has fledged an additional seven chicks with E2.
