Grant funds cancer screenings for low-income women
The University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute (UPCI) has been awarded a contract by the Pennsylvania Department of Health to provide breast and cervical cancer screenings for low-income women who are 50 years of age or older and are uninsured or underinsured.
The screenings, which are part of the state's HealthyWoman 50+ Program, are offered through UPCI's Ladies Hospital Aid Society Cancer Prevention and Early Detection Center. Women who qualify receive breast and pelvic examinations and Pap smears. UPCI's Comprehensive Breast Care Center provides mammograms.
