Registrar's office will report to Provost effective Jan. 1

Citing his promise to shift the reporting lines of several University units to enhance their operational efficiency and effectiveness, Interim Chancellor Mark Nordenberg has announced that, effective Jan. 1, the Office of the Registrar will report directly to the Office of the Provost.

"This shift in reporting lines from the Office of Business and Finance to the Office of the Provost is consistent with my belief, as well as the beliefs of Provost [James] Maher and Senior Vice Chancellor [Ben] Tuchi, that the functions and services performed by the registrar's office principally and quite directly support the University's academic units and programs," Nordenberg said in a prepared statement.

The chancellor said the realignment will aid the University in developing a comprehensive student database through which "we can study admissions, enrollment and academic performance data in an effort to improve student retention and measure institutional success." According to Nordenberg, the shift also should allow for more efficient utilization of classroom space.
