CGS dean candidate list narrowed to 10

The search committee for a new dean of the College of General Studies (CGS) has narrowed its list of candidates to 10.

Committee chair Jack Daniel said several of the candidates recently were brought to campus for a first round of interviews and that a second round of interviews will be take place this month.

According to Daniel, the search committee expects to submit a list of three to five finalists to Provost James Maher before the end of February.

"I don't want to exaggerate, but we have an absolutely distinguished field of candidates, a number of whom are already occupying a position of dean," Daniel said. "I've checked with the leadership in the field throughout the country and they verify that we have an absolutely distinguished pool of people." Robert Comfort has been serving as interim CGS since John Bolvin retired in February 1994.
