OIS moves to UCIS

The Office of International Services (OIS) now is reporting to the University Center for International Studies (UCIS), consolidating all of Pitt’s international programs, studies and services in one place.

Denise McCloskey, UCIS executive associate director, said: “This move helps us form a much closer working relationship between UCIS and OIS, and it allows us to develop a cohesive and efficient delivery for immigration services to not just students but faculty and staff across all of the campuses in the Pitt system.”

OIS handles all immigration services and issues for more than 4,500 international students, scholars, faculty and staff on all five Pitt campuses.

McCloskey added that OIS director Genevieve Cook and her staff of 11 immigration specialists and administrators will remain on the 7th floor of the William Pitt Union for the foreseeable future.

“It makes great strategic sense for OIS to align with UCIS,” said Cook. “We deal with immigration-related services for multiple Pitt audiences from international visitors, scholars and researchers to staff and more than 3,000 international students.”
