Quasi-endowment funds established

The Board of Trustees Feb. 22 approved two new quasi-endowment funds:

* The Israel Heritage Classroom Committee Quasi-Endowed Scholarship for the Summer Study Abroad Program, which will provide scholarships for Pitt undergraduates and graduate students studying and doing research in Israel.

* The Hollis Vick Quasi-Endowed Scholarship in the School of Social Work, which will provide scholarships to social work students. The quasi-endowment honors the late Hollis Vick, who earned a master of social work degree from Pitt in 1950.

Quasi-endowments are not permanent, but the principal amount must be at least $10,000 and may not be withdrawn, in whole or in part, for at least five years.
