UPJ community service award given

Participants in the Missionsbreak '96 project of the campus ministry of Pitt's Johnstown campus (UPJ) have been awarded the first annual UPJ Advisory Board community service recognition award.

Created to acknowledge the community-service contributions of full-time UPJ faculty, staff, students and student organizations, the award was presented to the Rev. Scott Gobbel, Protestant campus minister; Sister Virginia DeWan, Roman Catholic campus minister; UPJ Coalition for Christian Outreach staff members J. Patrick McKnight and Stephanie Moulas, and student participants.

Participants were honored for spending their spring break working as volunteers with the Interfaith Coalition for the Hurricane Andrew Recovery Effort in Homestead, Fla.
