Ruth Hume Lutz

Ruth Hume Lutz, a retired faculty member in political science, died of congestive heart failure Nov. 24, 1994.

She joined Pitt's political science department faculty in 1947 and, as an instructor and lecturer, taught a number of different courses, specializing in the politics of international organizations. For many years she served as the department's principal adviser for undergraduate majors. She was an enthusiastic supporter of Pitt's athletic programs and for years was a member of the Golden Panthers, She retired from her faculty position in 1986.

Lutz held a bachelor's degree from the University of Louisville nd a master's degree from George WashingtonUniversity.

In her home community of Edgewood, she was elected to borough council and served for 17 yers.

She is survived by her husband Kenneth, a daughter, Janice Lutz Midden, two grandchildren and a brother, E.C. Hume.
