Historical Society building to close Dec. 8

The Historical Society of Western Pennsylvania's current headquarters building at 4338 Bigelow Boulevard will be closed to society members and the general public beginning today, Dec. 8.

Historical Society collections will be moved to the new Senator John Heinz Pittsburgh Regional History Center being constructed in the Strip District. The center is scheduled to open in 1996.

Researchers can continue to use the Historical Society library and archives based in the Bigelow Boulevard building by appointment on Fridays and Saturday until the building is sold.

The Society's other programs will not be affected by the building closing.
