To the University community:

The Falk Laboratory School of the University of Pittsburgh, a kindergarten through grade 8 elementary school located on the University campus across from the VA Hospital, provides a progressive, dynamic and diverse learning environment.  Students who attend Falk School receive individualized and meaningful learning with a ratio of approximately 11 students to 1 teacher.

We would like to thank you for your generous support of our fund-raising endeavors. With your help, our goal of building a new playground for the children will soon become a reality. We appreciate the efforts of many of you who have supported our computer cartridge recycling program — which has raised $4,000 over the past two years!  We encourage you to continue collecting used laser and inkjet cartridges and donating them to us.  We will be happy to provide your department with prepaid UPS boxes to make things even easier!

We recently have launched our 2003-2004 Box Tops for Education fund-raising campaign and are again asking for your support.  This program allows schools to earn 10 cents for each box tops coupon they clip from General Mills participating products (visit for a complete listing).  Box tops can be sent via campus mail to Falk School, Attention: Nancy Glynn.

This year the Giant Eagle Apples for Students program will run from Nov. 2, 2003 to March 22, 2004.  Please remember to register your Advantage card and designate your earnings to Falk School. In October the telephone hotline (1-800/474-4777) and web site ( will be open for new enrollees. Have your Advantage card available and enter the Falk School ID #0335. If you registered previously, you do not have to do so again.
