Presby/Shadyside win 2003 Consumer Choice Award

UPMC Presbyterian/Shadyside Hospital has been named a 2003 Consumer Choice Award winner by the National Research Corporation. This is the fifth year in a row that the hospital has been named to the national list.

The award placed UPMC Presbyterian/Shadyside among the nation’s top 175 hospitals consumers chose as having the highest quality and image in 100 U.S. metropolitan areas.

Each year the National Research Corporation honors the U.S. hospitals preferred by consumers for health care services. According to the National Research Corporation, the consumer assessment is the most comprehensive in the industry, taking into account physician and hospital satisfaction assessments; hospital image and preference ratings; health plan, health status and chronic condition profiles, and consumer trust and confidence in health care.

The winners of the award were announced Sept. 15.
