Centennial law lecture series

A reception honoring Springer, the first African-American president of the Allegheny County Bar Association, was held after the inaugural lecture in a series celebrating the law school's centennial this year. The inaugural lecture was given by Randall Kennedy, professor of law at Harvard, who spoke on "Law, Race and Suspicion." The second lecture in the series was delivered yesterday, Feb. 15. Sol Linowitz, lawyer, businessman and diplomat, spoke on "Reflections on the 'Betrayed Profession.'" Other lectures in the centennial series will include Sylvia Law, New York University law professor and expert on health and reproductive law and women's rights, Feb. 27 ; Anita Allen, Georgetown University Law Center professor and a fellow at the Kennedy Institute of Ethics, March 27, and Drew S. Days III, solicitor general of the United States, April 27. All lectures are scheduled for 6 p.m. in the Teplitz Memorial Moot Courtroom of the law school. For more information, call 648-1400.
