Former University Times Editor Honored for Service to University Senate

Accompanied by family members, recently retired editor of the University Times Nancy Brown was recognized with the 2017 University Senate Service Award at the May 9 Faculty Assembly session. Chancellor Patrick Gallagher, University Senate President Frank Wilson and past presidents of Senate Council were in attendance.

The award, established in 1999, is presented each year for “outstanding contributions to the University of Pittsburgh through service in the University Senate.”

Brown was named editor of the publication in 1979.

Wilson thanked Brown for her years of service to Senate Council and noted that the University Times, of which Brown was at the helm for 37 years, has been integral in developing a commitment to a system of shared governance at the University.
