War on Vines in Schenley Park

Partners in Parks needs help to combat the invasion of the destructive wild grape vine that wraps around tree branches and chokes the trees to death.

Habitat for Humanity

Saturday, June 17, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.; Saturday, July 15, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Pitt volunteers will be working alongside low-income individuals to create livable housing in the Braddock area. Come for all or part of the day.

11th Annual Great Book Sale

Saturday, June 17, 5-8 p.m.

Assist with Goodwill Industries’ Great Book Sale at Station Square.

Project Bundle Up

Saturday, July 8, 4-9 p.m.

Pitt volunteers will be answering phones and doing behind-the-scenes work. The event will be held at the WTAE studios.

Refugee Services Orientation

Wednesday, July 12, noon-1 p.m.

Volunteers are needed to help acculturate these new arrivals to American life through practicing English, becoming “telephone partners,” and helping with daily errands. Attend this lunch-hour orientation session on campus to decide if you would like to commit a limited amount of time on an ongoing basis to this cross-cultural experience.

Big Brothers/Big Sisters Orientation

At an on-campus location, Big Sister and Pitt faculty member Joan Vondra will orient volunteers to the work of Big Brothers & Big Sisters.

Bookends-on-Carson Book Sorting

Saturday, July 22, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

The newest business venture to support the work of Goodwill Industries is Bookends-on-Carson. Join fellow book lovers and spend a Saturday sorting books for a worthwhile cause.
