Ramicone named to Budget post

Arthur Ramicone, director of Internal Audit at the University, has been promoted to associate vice chancellor for Budget and Administration.

Ramicone succeeds Rhonda Gross, who left Pitt last year to become vice president for finance at Lehigh University.

The associate vice chancellor for Budget and Administration is primarily responsible for coordination of the operating and capital budget process.

In addition, Ramicone will be responsible for several departments: Student Registration and Financial Services, Procurement and Materials Management, Institutional Research, Risk Management, Policies and Procedures, and the Applied Research Center.

A certified public accountant and a certified fraud examiner, Ramicone has 17 years of experience in financial and system auditing in industry and higher education. He came to Pitt in 1988 from the Duquesne Light Co. He also worked in an audit capacity at National Intergroup and Deloitte Haskins & Sells.

As Pitt's director of Internal Audit, Ramicone has overseen all of the University's audits and has had audit responsibility for over $800 million in revenues and expenditures, and $1.4 billion in assets.

Ramicone holds a B.S. in recreation and park administration and a master's of business administration from Penn State. In 1994, he earned a certificate in the Global Alliance for Leadership Program of the Katz Graduate School of Business.
