Applicants Sought for Faculty Athletics Representative Role

Applications for the Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) are now being accepted. The Faculty Athletics Representative is a NCAA-established position designated by the Chancellor that represents the institution’s relationships with the NCAA and its conference. Applicants must be a member of the University of Pittsburgh’s faculty or an administrator who holds faculty rank and shall not hold an administrative or coaching position in the athletics department.

Wellness Activities Planned as Healthy Rewards Program Starts

The Healthy Rewards program is taking place now through the 2017-18 plan year. Earn incentives up to $100 by completing wellness activities such as biometric screenings, seasonal flu shots, health risk assessments and more. Each activity is worth $25-$75 and is available to faculty and staff with a UPMC Health Plan. Dependents, spouses and domestic partners can also earn up to $100 each in wellness incentives. Wellness incentives will be applied to a flexible spending account or health incentive account debit card.

More information about wellness activities and the Healthy Rewards program can be found online.

Two upcoming wellness activities that are eligible for earning incentives include the following events:

  • On-campus clinics for seasonal flu shots will begin on the Pittsburgh campus Sept. 14 in the William Pitt Union Assembly Room and at all regional campuses at the beginning of October.
  • Biometric screening events will also be held on Oct.19, 24 and 31. Schedule a screening through your My Pitt account online by logging in and selecting My Resources > UPMC Health Plan > MyHealth Access > Better Health & Wellness > Biometric Screening Registration.

Call for Letters of Intent for ARDC Seed Monies Grant Program

The Alzheimer Disease Research Center (ARDC) is looking for pilot grants that will stimulate new and innovative research relevant to Alzheimer Disease. Eligible proposals may be awarded funds up to $25,000 (direct costs) for funding April 1, 2018 to March 31, 2019.

Email a brief description of the proposed pilot study to Leslie Dunn, center administrator, at dunnlo@upmc.edu by Oct. 6, 2017. Request full application guidelines by calling 412-692-2731. More information is available by downloading the full call for proposal.
