Grant funds computers for UPG dorms

The Greensburg campus will provide a personal computer in each dorm room, thanks to a $381,000 grant from the Katherine Mabis McKenna Foundation.

"This sizable grant will give each of our resident students a real learning edge with the advantage of instant access to the vast Pitt-Oakland computer system and the tremendous data retrieval services in the Pitt libraries and the Internet," said Frank Cassell, UPG president. Residence hall fees will pay for maintenance of the PCs over the three-year equipment lease period. In all, the project calls for 223 computers — one for every two dorm students — for the five UPG residence halls.
