Professorship for arthritis research set up

Timothy M. Wright has been named the inaugural recipient of the Margaret Jane Miller Endowed Professorship for Arthritis Research.

Wright is chief of the division of rheumatology and clinical immunology and associate professor of medicine.

The endowed professorship was established by Russell P. Miller in honor of his wife, who died in July 1997 of complications related to rheumatoid arthritis. The endowment gift also acknowledged Miller's gratitude to his late wife's long-time physician, Terence Starz.

Wright also has been appointed director of the Arthritis Institute, which was dedicated Oct. 8. The institute is being housed on the seventh floor of Medical Research Facility, and is expected to provide the most advanced medical and surgical care for the treatment of patients with arthritis and related musculoskeletal and immunologic disorders.
