Jamie Dixon, an assistant this past year at the University of Hawaii, was named associate head men's basketball coach by Head Coach Ben Howland, continuing a long-term association between the two men.

Dixon previously served as an assistant under Howland at Northern Arizona University (1994-97) and the University of California-Santa Barbara (1991-92). While at Northern Arizona, the Lumberjacks were 48-35 in Dixon's last three years, including back-to-back 21-win seasons and a pair of Big Sky championships. Northern Arizona played in the 1997 National Invitation Tournament and the 1998 NCAA Tournament. In 1993-94, Dixon made his first stop at Hawaii, helping the Rainbows win their first Western Athletic Conference championships and reach their first NCAA Tournament in nearly three decades. In his second stint with Hawaii (1998-99), he served as a chief recruiter as well as being responsible for coaching the guards.

A sixth-round selection in the NBA draft by Washington, Dixon played with the Lacrosse Catbirds of the Continental Basketball Association and also played professionally in Holland and New Zealand.
