WSP launches book-sharing project

Pitt's Women's Studies Program has launched a book-sharing program with foreign universities trying to develop gender studies programs. Among the universities involved are the University of Witswatersrand, Johanne sburg; University of Budapest, and Fatima Jinnah Women University, Pakistan.

Several universities in South America are also under consideration as participants.

These universities have English-proficient students, but lack books and resources on gender studies. The Women's Studies Program is coordinating the collection of textbooks from students and faculty on the University's Pittsburgh campus and possibly the r egional campuses, as well as Chatham College, Carnegie Mellon University and Duquesne University.

Volunteers will record the donated books in a database and keep track of their distribution. Contributions are needed to mail the books. Donations should be sent to the Women's Studies Program, 901 Cathedral of Learning.
